Eighth Sunday after Trinity AD 2026

Our Lord says: «Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.» We do the will of God when we live as He intended us to live when He created us: in purity, righteousness, holiness, and self-giving love. But this is possible only when God Himself cleanses us, justifies us, sanctifies us, and fills us with His perfect love.

We cannot renew ourselves any more than a rotten tree can make itself healthy and strong again. It is God who renews us. It is God who gives us life. It is God who works within us through His Holy Spirit, day by day, until we are «delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.»

Let’s ask ourselves what kind of wood are we made of? There may be different answers, but the most important of them is: we are made of the wood from which God has chosen to make us. Each of us has been created according to His wisdom, His purpose, and His love. We are not all meant to be exactly the same. We do not all have the same gifts, the same temperament, or the same calling. But each of us has been created to be good, to serve God’s purpose, and to bear good fruit.

Let us pray, then, that by the power of His grace we may become more and more what God created us to be, and that we may bring forth good fruit unto everlasting life.
